Who Am I?

From the tongue to AI algorithms, people have used lots of tools to understand and to be understood. However, despite our extraordinary abilities and the accumulation of thousands of years of experience... we still don't seem to understand one another. Our world seems more divided every day. The nightly news can make life seem worthless, and the deafening radio silence from the cimmerian void above, sends a shock of abject loneliness through our veins every evening when the earth meets the sky.

So, what do we do?

Most of us seem to have given up hope. We use our little chicken-scratches on the surface of infinite knowledge to constantly invent new ways to avoid (or destroy) one another. We build religious, social, and political superstructures and engineer high-tech gadgets to seek out love, life, and meaning—anywhere but here. We "socialize" through synthetic materials and virtual worlds, and we invite one another to vent, reinforce, and inscribe our bitterness on cold digital drives for all the world to read, rather than work toward real solutions through loving communication and understanding.

But what can we do?

You are not a soul-less product of chance configurations of zeros and ones on a speck of dust following a path of least resistance into an inevitable singularity. You are not just a highly evolved animal—not to me. You are extremely complex, supremely intelligent, exclusively unique, yet sharing common traits which connect you with me - and with everyone else - and yet you are somehow still...

...well, YOU.

- You are deeply loved.
- You are highly valued.
- And you are not alone.

I believe that true understanding can only be accomplished through personal—and proactive—contact. A website, a social media page, a book—a Bible—can never replace real human connection. Those things are just tools, like roads, which are there to connect us, not excuse us. This is why I've spent the past 40 years of my life as a volunteer educator in my community.

My job is to help people understand one another.  I'm not really an "employee", an "entrepreneur", a "web developer", a "marketer", a "minister", a "teacher", a "mentor", a "witness", a "musician", a "father", a "son", a "brother", a "friend", a "Republican, or "Democrat".
